Psychotherapeutic Holding

Heather Mason is a psychotherapy candidate in training with the UKCP.  Yoga for the Mind is not psychotherapy, however it incorpates psychotherapeutic elements. In a Yoga for the Mind class there is no talking therapy although there is dialogue between the students and teacher. Heather provides a supportive holding environment for students that is unique and separate from the support provided in a general yoga class. Students are given space for greater expression and understanding of their thought patterns, mental habits, and emotional tension. 


Yoga for the Mind also provides specific support to students when difficult and revealing experiences arise during yoga class to help students use delicate experiences for the purpose of healing. The ethos of this system is that by working with and through the body one can learn to understand and relax the mind. By distilling difficult experiences through the body in a psychotherapeutic way, students are able to move through challenging personal territory in a safe and gentle environment where natural healing can ensue.
